The 2nd Gymnasium of Kavala is situated in Kavala, a historic city in northern Greece. It is a public Junior High School with 180 students and 25 teachers. Our school is located in a quiet neighborhood, very close to the city center. It is housed in a building of 1980’s with a view over the mountain and the sea.

Alongside the formal curriculum we implement various learning activities such as emotional education programs, creative writing activities, eTwinning projects. A variety of learning actions on Environmental Education and Cultural Heritage take place on a regular basis. The Reading Club of our school regularly invites Greek writers to talk to the team members about their work and organizes a Bookbazar. Our pupils participate in competitions under the approval of the Primary and Secondary Education Directorate - such as reading marathons for schools, Spelling Bee contests or competitions on mathematics. Our school implements Educational Excursions in various parts of Greece as well as in the Greek Parliament. The last two years our school implements three Erasmus+ projects, aiming to the promotion of the European identity of our students and the improvement of the professional skills of the staff.

The core of the school culture is the  physical and emotional safety of our students. We always try to create an atmosphere in which students feel motivated to contribute to the class, by encouraging team work and through projects in which students become parts of mixed-ability groups. We try to be flexible and adapt the curriculum to every student need and promote the collaboration with the parents. Thanks to its qualitative contribution to the students’ personal and academic development, our school enjoys great reputation by the local community.
